Because....it's not nostalgia, it's veneration....the music was experimental and based on the perfect storm of music, fashion, subculture, and art. While these bands weren’t underground they weren’t considered mainstream either and you were hard pressed to find people that were into this music that weren’t in someway interested in art, design, and fashion. So in a really long, round about way, you could say that they opened my young eyes to a world in which it was necessary to be unique.
